Wow. That was a rough drop by Humphrey that should've gone for a touchdown. Denver failed to convert on third down after the drop and had to settle for a field goal. It was a promising opening drive by the Broncos as they chewed over seven minutes of game clock, but going up 3-0 does leave a little bit of a sour taste in their mouth.

What's interesting is that Bo Nix has done pretty well working off-script this season, throwing the most completions outside of the packer (80) since Patrick Mahomes in 2018. While that's proven to be a key reason why Denver earned the No. 1 seed this season, Buffalo is uniquely equipped to combat that. The Bills have the No. 1 pass defense in the NFL and allowed the fewest completions outside of the pocket (35).

Broncos need to take advantage of Bills poor run defense

Buffalo has allowed 136.2 rushing yards per game this season, which is the fifth-most in the NFL. They are coming off a playoff win over Jacksonville, where they allowed 154 yards on the ground on a 6.7 yards per carry clip. This is a matchup Denver will need to exploit, but it's fair to wonder if they capability to do it. Since JK Dobbins went down in Week 10, the Broncos are bottom 10 in rushing yards per game and yards per rush.

Can Josh Allen overcome Denver's pass rush?

The Broncos have arguably been the best defense in the NFL this season. Their 68 sacks set a franchise record and allowed a 58% completion rate, which is the second-fewest in the league. Allen is coming off a season where he was sacked a career-high 40 times. Whichever side wins this matchup likely wins the game.

What happened last time?

The Bills are 2-0 all-time against Denver in the postseason. The last time they squared off came just last year in the 2024 Wild Card round. Buffalo won that game 31-7, and it was even more dominating than that final score indicates. The Bills scored on six of their seven possessions (excluding kneels) and possessed the ball for 41:43. The Broncos scored on their opening possession and then were shut out the rest of the way.
