FIFA has released a new theme song for Toronto’s matches in the upcoming 2026 World Cup.

JUNO award-winning Toronto songwriter and producer Hill Kourkoutis created the track, titled “The Sound of Toronto” Sonic ID. The song was unveiled on social media along with a video highlighting some of Toronto’s most iconic spots and diverse neighbourhoods.

The instrumental track blends various musical styles, reflecting Toronto’s rich and diverse music scene. Kourkoutis drew inspiration from Toronto’s multicultural musical landscape, blending sounds from rap, rock, jazz, world music and more. Since performing in the city’s music scene since she was 13 years old, Kourkoutis said she has witnessed the evolution of Toronto’s sound.

“I’m even more excited that my hometown, the city of Toronto, is one of the 16 host cities to be hosting the matches,” Kourkoutis said in a video posted on Instagram.

“It has been an immense honour to be the producer to capture the sound of Toronto. I wanted this to be a celebration of our multiculturalism and our diversity, I really wanted to capture our beautiful spirit as a city. We are a city of avid soccer fans and we quite literally have the world living within our fine city,” Kourkoutis continued.

The track is part of a broader project featuring talented producers from the 16 host cities across Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Each producer reimagined the official FIFA World Cup 26’ theme, adding their city’s signature sound, cultural essence, and unique energy to create distinctive Sonic IDs.

“Music has become an integral part of the FIFA World Cup, and for the 2026 edition, it will reach an entirely new level,” FIFA said in a news release regarding the theme song initiative.

“For the biggest football tournament in history, featuring 48 teams competing in 104 matches across three host nations, FIFA is introducing a groundbreaking initiative that celebrates diversity, creativity and the unifying power of sport through music.”

Toronto is set to host six matches in the tournament, kicking off with Canada’s game on June 12 at the newly upgraded BMO Field.

The “Sound of Toronto” Sonic ID is available on all streaming platforms.
