Mumbai Indians’ (MI) seamer Deepak Chahar opened up on dismissing teen sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi during Match 50 of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) on Thursday, May 1 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. Suryavanshi came into the match fresh from his record-shattering hundred against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the previous fixture.

The 14-year-old slammed a 35-ball century in just his third innings of the tournament and became the youngest centurion in the history of T20 cricket. However, he couldn’t replicate his magic against Mumbai Indians (MI) and got dismissed for a two-ball duck by Deepak Chahar as he holed out at mid-on.

After the game, Chahar opened up on dismissing the youngster as he praised him for his innings against Gujarat. The right-arm seamer revealed that the team made plans for every batter, and it was his lucky day that he could execute it on the field.

“I think he played a breathtaking knock last night when RR played against GT. So there's a pattern to every batsman. Somewhere he's strong, he'll be weak. So as a bowler and as a unit, we decide and make plans for every batter, not just him. But yeah, and sometimes the plan works, sometimes it doesn't work. So today it went our way, we were lucky, but you know he's a good talent and I think he will do well in the coming future,” said Chahar in the post-match pres conference.

Following Suryavanshi’s early dismissal, Rajasthan capitulated before MI’s potent bowling attack and got all out for 117, chasing a massive target of 218 runs. As a result, they lost the match by 100 runs, and the victory catapulted Mumbai to the top of the points table. MI opener Ryan Rickelton was adjudged Player of the Match for his brilliant innings of 61 (38) with the help of seven fours and three sixes.
