Alex Eala faces world No. 14 Karolina Muchova, guns for Miami Open QF berth

MANILA, Philippines — Filipino tennis hotshot Alex Eala guns for quarterfinals berth when she faces Czech player Karolina Muchova at the WTA 1000 Miami Open round of 16 Monday.

The match is set at the Hard Rock Stadium Grandstand Court at 11 p.m. in Manila.

World No. 29 Eala dropped Polish Magda Linette, 6-3, 7-6(2), in their round of 32 clash on Sunday, while World No. 14 Muchova dispatched British Katie Boulter in their round of 32 encounter, 6-3, 7-5.

Eala looks to end 'the Czech Curse' this time, having been 0-11 against Czech players in the Tour.

Eala suffered the latest of those defeats from world No. 13 Linda Noskova in their Indian Wells round of 16 clash, 2-6, 0-6, on March 11.
