IPL 2023: 3 Released Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Players Who Can Get High Bids At Auction

The two-time champion Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had a terrible IPL 2022 campaign, failing to make the playoffs and placing seventh overall. They suffered five straight losses throughout the middle of the tournament, essentially ending their chances of making the playoffs. A major disappointment for them was their batting, which was led by captain Shreyas Iyer.

With a new coach at the helm, the franchise would look to start afresh. However, they have released some of the best players from their KKR squad, who might be going to be X-factors of some other IPL team.

For IPL 2023, Pat Cummins, Sam Billings, Aaron Finch, and Alex Hales will no longer be available to the Kolkata Knight Riders. Lockie Ferguson, Shardul Thakur, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz were added as compensation. With 16 slots to fill and a budget of INR 7.05 crore, KKR will enter the auctions in December. Shivam Mavi

The Indian bowler Shivam Mavi made his IPL debut for KKR in 2018, but only took 5 wickets overall. After spending the most of his time in rehabilitation following a stress fracture in his back that prevented him from playing professional cricket since December 2019, Shivam Mavi was ready to compete in the IPL 2020 season.

In the IPL 2020 season, he participated in 8 games and took 9 wickets. In the IPL 2021 season, he took 11 wickets, including a 4-wicket haul against Rajasthan Royals. Shivam Mavi was bought back for a staggering INR 7.25 crore in the IPL 2022 auctions thanks to the Kolkata Knight Riders’ unwavering confidence in him throughout the years. However, this year he was released ahead of IPL 2023 and will be available for auctions.

Aaron Finch

Alex Hales, an English batter, was replaced by Aaron Finch, who was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders for the IPL 2022 season. Aaron Finch, the captain of Australia’s 2021 ICC T20 World Cup winning team, joined KKR for INR 1.5 crore.

Since making his IPL debut in 2010, Aaron Finch has played for eight different clubs, so he is no stranger to the league. It would be his sixth IPL franchise that he is representing when he plays for KKR. However, Aaron Finch only scored 86 runs in five matches in IPL 2022, averaging just 17.2.

Although he no longer plays ODIs, Aaron Finch is still active in T20Is. In 92 IPL matches, he has scored 2091 runs at an average of 25.91. Looking at his stats, he is surely going to attract bidders during the IPL 2023 auction.

Ajinkya Rahane

In IPL 2022, Ajinkya Rahane had a poor performance. Only 133 runs were scored by Ajinkya Rahane in seven IPL 2022 games. On May 14, while watching Kolkata Knight Riders play Sunrisers Hyderabad, he too sustained an injury. Ajinkya Rahane has a history of scoring a lot of runs at the top of the order and may be the ideal counterbalance for aggressive opening partners.

Many teams may go to great lengths to secure the services of the 34-year-old senior hitter in the IPL 2023. In 158 games, he has scored 4074 runs at an average of 30.86. Before the IPL 2023, Kolkata Knight Riders might release him, and Delhi Capitals might try to sign him.
