Manchester United reportedly have no plans to loan out exciting youngster Chido Obi this summer.

The 17-year-old turned down the chance to sign a professional contract with Arsenal in order to make the move to Man United, with his switch to the Red Devils being completed in September 2024.

Obi had first-team exposure last season, featuring on eight occasions at senior level, including seven outings in the Premier League, and he has been involved in the team's preparations for the new campaign.

The big-money arrival of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig has led to suggestions that Obi could be sent out on loan in order to receive regular action at this stage of his career.

However, according to the Daily Mail, the club currently do not have any plans to loan out Obi, who has scored 12 times in 10 appearances for Man United Under-18s since his arrival.

Man United 'not planning to loan out Obi'

The report claims that Rasmus Hojlund's expected departure means that Obi will be given plenty of minutes in the new season, with his development set to continue at Old Trafford.

Sesko, who has been handed the number 30 shirt, will be the starting centre-forward, with Joshua Zirkzee the back-up, although the Netherlands international could also be used as a number 10.

Man United will have a reduced fixture list next season due to their absence from Europe, which will put more pressure on the team to enjoy runs in the League Cup and FA Cup - competitions that will allow Amorim to keep squad players happy with regular minutes.

The expectation is that Obi will be in the squad for Sunday's Premier League opener against Arsenal, with Sesko also potentially among the substitutes due to the fact that he has only just arrived at Old Trafford.

What does the future hold for academy goal machine Obi?

Obi had a stunning 2023-24 campaign for Arsenal Under-18s, scoring 32 goals in 18 appearances, including 28 goals in his final nine appearances of the season.

The Denmark Under-21s international famously scored 10 times for Arsenal Under-16s against Liverpool Under-16s, and he was involved in first-team training for the Gunners before his departure.

Obi has thus far found it difficult to make a big impression at first-team level, but he has already outgrown Under-18s football, and with the 2024-25 season now under his belt, he should be much improved in the new season.

The forward is one of the most talented young players in world football, and the indications are that he could become an absolute superstar for the Red Devils in the future.
