“We strongly oppose the proposed Asia Cup cricket match between India and Pakistan. We will protest against it if it is organised,” Sri Ram Sene founder Pramod Mutalik said in Belagavi on Friday. The Union government seems to have taken a dangerous decision in allowing the match to be played. It seems that the Board of Cricket Control in India and the Union government are only behind money. What is the need to play cricket with Pakistan which is the factory of terror? Several innocent Indians died in Pahalgam just a few months ago and the memory of that terrorist act is still fresh in the minds of Indians. No children of BCCI members or ICC or politicians died in terror attacks in Kashmir, he said. Are they not worried about the dignity of this country? he asked.“The BJP comes to power in the name of Hindutva. But once it comes to power, it forgets Hindutva. Now, that the BJP is out of power in Karnataka, it is after Hindutva,” Mr. Mutalik said.He demanded that the Union government cancel the match immediately. “There is still time to take such a decision. However, if the Central government goes ahead with this decision, we will boycott the match and protest against it,” he said.He said that law and order disturbances in places like Maddur are due to the minority appeasement policies of the Congress government in the State.
