Sinner vs Alcaraz at Roland-Garros 2025: Head-to-head and rivalry breakdown ahead of their first Grand Slam final meeting

The tennis world’s wish has been granted with a dream 2025 French Open final between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

World number one Sinner faces defending champion Alcaraz in a blockbuster Roland-Garros men’s singles final on Sunday (8 June) — a showdown that felt destined, but was far from guaranteed on the Grand Slam stage

Nonetheless, the top two seeds have made their way to the final on Court Philippe-Chatrier, ready for another chapter in their already generation-defining rivalry.

Sinner has been unstoppable in Paris, yet to drop a set and aiming for a third consecutive major triumph and first on clay. Since the start of the 2024 season, the Italian has a 91-7 record; four of those seven defeats have come at the hands of Alcaraz.

For world number two Alcaraz, it is a chance at back-to-back French Open titles which no man has done since another certain Spaniard, Rafael Nadal. He will relish another meeting with Sinner, a month after defeating him in the Italian Open final.

With three and four Grand Slams respectively, neither Sinner nor Alcaraz have lost a major final: that must change on Sunday.
