The agony of defeat: Bayern Munich prez acknowledges losing out on Florian Wirtz

1
It is not as if Bayern Munich has always landed its top transfer targets, but losing out to Liverpool FC on Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz seems to have stung everyone at the club a bit.

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer admitted that Max Eberl told him that a deal for Wirtz was likely not happening.

“Max Eberl informed me that Florian Wirtz is probably leaning towards Liverpool. I can’t say what will happen next with Leverkusen,” Hainer told Abendzeitung’s Maximilian Koch (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

Organizationally, Bayern Munich needs to do a deep dive to understand where it went wrong and what it could have done better. More than anything, though, Bayern munich needs to explore how to open up more revenue streams. The game of football is getting more expensive by the hour and it will not wait around for the Bavarians to judiciously save spare euros for spending on rainy day.

The news that Bayern Munich had coughed up the Florian Wirtz transfer was shocking. Even more stunning was that it was Liverpool FC, who ultimately won the Germany international’s heart. So...what next? Let’s rehash how it all went down, why it happened, and then talk about what might on tap next for the Bavarians, who have to start their transfer dealings all over again.
