Manchester United looks set for a major revamp over the summer, with multiple reports suggesting there could be a cleanout after Thursday’s Europa League final loss.

For just the second time in 35 years, the Red Devils will not play in any European competitions.

It compounds what has been United’s worst campaign in the Premier League era with Ruben Amorim’s men sitting 16th in the Premier League with one match to go.

The poor results across the board are expected to leave United in a precarious financial position and according to the Daily Mirror, it means all players will be put up for sale.

That is right: everyone. Even captain Bruno Fernandes, who even offered to leave United if the club need to cash in on him in order to rebuild after the heartbreak of their defeat by Tottenham.

Manager Amorim said after the defeat that if the club no longer wanted him he would quit “without any conversation about compensation”.

Now his captain, 30, has followed suit, aware of United’s need for an overhaul of the playing staff despite financial constraints.

“I have always been honest. I’ve always said I will be here until the club says to me that it’s time to go,” said Fernandes.

“I’m eager to do more, to be able to bring the club to the great days. On the day that the club thinks that I’m too much or it’s time to part ways, football is like this, you never know it.

“But I’ve always said it and I keep my word in the same way. If the club thinks it’s time to part ways because they want to do some cashing in or whatever, it is what it is and football sometimes is like this.”

Fernandes has been United’s standout player for United this season but failed to make an impact against Spurs at the San Mames stadium.

Another player who could be moved is Alejandro Garnacho, who cast doubt over his future at United after being dropped by Amorim for the Red Devils’ Europa League final defeat.

Garnacho had started every knockout game of the run to the Europa League final. But the 20-year-old was overlooked in favour of Mason Mount and only made his introduction with United chasing an equaliser 19 minutes from time.

“Until we reached the final, I played every round. And I played 20 minutes today... I don’t know,” Garnacho told reporters.

“We didn’t beat anyone in the league. We lacked a lot of things. When you don’t score goals, you always need more.”

Garnacho had been linked with a move to Napoli or Chelsea in the January transfer window after being dropped from the squad by Amorim for December’s clash against Manchester City.

“The final will influence (my decision) but the whole season, the situation of the club (will too),” added Garnacho.

“I’m going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens afterwards.”

Garnacho’s brother Roberto posted on social media that he had been “thrown under the bus”.

Amorim defended his team selection, recalling the fact that Mount came off the bench to score twice in the semi-final, second leg win over Athletic Bilbao.

“How many times have we had this conversation, and it was the opposite? Some players come in, like Mason Mount, against Bilbao and changed the game,” said Amorim.

“Who missed the big opportunity in the first half against Bilbao? Yeah (Garnacho). Of course, now it is easy for us to talk about a lot of views.”
