Harry Maguire's powerful reaction to one player after Man Utd's Europa League final loss vs Tottenham is real eye-opener

Harry Maguire pulled no punches towards one Tottenham star after Manchester United’s loss in the Europa League final at the San Mames Stadium on Wednesday.

Manchester United and Tottenham met in an all-English showdown in this season’s Europa League final and the Red Devils failed to lift major silverware.

Ruben Amorim’s men were left chasing the match after Tottenham went 1-0 up against United in the 2025 Europa League final in Bilbao on Wednesday evening.

Brennan Johnson’s first-half opener for Tottenham against United proved to be the crucial winner for Spurs and secured the trophy for Ange Postecoglou’s men.

United manager Ruben Amorim was forced to watch on from the sidelines at the San Mames Stadium, with the Red Devils unable to mount a comeback after the break.

Spurs have punched their ticket to the Champions League for the 2025-26 season and United will now be without any European football for the following campaign.

United’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final has been another damning indictment of the Red Devils’ woeful season at Old Trafford.

What Harry Maguire did after the full-time whistle in Man Utd’s 1-0 Europa League defeat vs Tottenham in the 2025 final

Harry Maguire saw out the full 90 minutes against Tottenham and was deployed as the main centre-back in Ruben Amorim’s tactical system for Manchester United.

The 32-year-old former United captain kept himself busy during the Europa League final with his different encounters against Tottenham defender Cristian Romero.

Spanish newspaper Marca shared footage on TikTok of the tension reaching a boiling point between Maguire and Cristian Romero after Spurs’ 1-0 win in Bilbao.

Romero was spotted walking up to Maguire and appeared to say something before heading away from the United defender and embracing Diogo Dalot with a hug.

Maguire then walked over and appeared to say something to the 27-year-old Tottenham star before pushing Romero away from United teammate Diogo Dalot.

Both Romero and Maguire were separated and the England international could be seen continuing his war of words with the Spurs centre-back in the clip.

Ruben Amorim dropped box-office Man Utd remarks after the 2025 Europa League final against Tottenham in Bilbao

Amorim admitted that he would be ready to walk away from his role without “compensation” if the Red Devils board and United fans felt he wasn’t the right man.

“We have to see. In this moment, I am not going to be here defending myself,” he said at his post-match press conference, as per BBC Sport.

“It is not my style. I am not going to do it. I am not going to come and say, ‘I am going to improve us because of this’ or ‘I have these problems.’ I will not do that. In this moment, it is a little bit of faith. Let’s see.

“Like I said before, I am always honest. I am always open. If the board and the fans feel like I am not the right guy, then I will go in the next day without any conversation about compensation, but I will not quit.

“Again, I am really confident in my job and, as you can see, I will not change nothing in the way I do things.”

United will return from Bilbao without the Europa League trophy and the Red Devils face Aston Villa in their final Premier League match on Sunday at Old Trafford.
