United have held a long-term interest in the 22-year-old, who rejected a switch to United in favour of RB Leipzig three years ago.But now - as reported by The Manchester Evening News - United are now advancing with a potential move for the striker this summer. They do however face competition from Newcastle United, amid speculation over the future of star striker Alexander Isak who is linked with a blockbuster move to Liverpool.Sesko is reckoned to be talking to both clubs over a possible transfer and is set to make a decision on his future over the next few days. Whoever misses out on the transfer could have a potential fall-back option.According to The Sun, United are also battling Newcastle for Stuttgart striker, Nick Woltemade, this summer. The forward had looked to be heading towards a move to Bayern Munich, but their transfer of Liverpool forward Luis Diaz may have opened the door to United and Newcastle.Article continues belowThe 23-year-old scored 12 goals and provided two assists in 28 Bundesliga games last season. He was also the top goal-scorer in the U21 European Championships this summer - scoring six goals during the tournament.According to the latest CIES Football Observatory, a fair price for Woltemade this summer would be €45m-€52m (£39-£45m). That would make him a cheaper option that Sesko, who is valued at around £65million by Leipzig this summer.Given the competition from both Newcastle and Bayern, the lack of European football in the upcoming campaign could yet again impact United's chances of making the signing. Both rivals will have Champions League football to offer the player, making the pathway to any would-be transfer potentially tricky.Get United transfer news and updates on WhatsApp!
