Pakistan opening batter Sameer Minhas is fully focussed on helping his team achieve ICC Men’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2026 glory as he hopes to replicate his recent form in the tournament.

“Our simple plan is to win the World Cup. Personally, my first goal is to win it for Pakistan. The second is to become player of the tournament,” Minhas was quoted as saying by the PCB.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed a staggering run with the bat for the Pakistan U19 side, scoring three hundreds in the last month, which included a record-breaking knock of 172 against India in the U19 Asia Cup final that Pakistan won by 191 runs.

The breathtaking knock brought him into limelight ahead of the U19 World Cup, and Minhas is not one to shy away from it.

“It was an incredible feeling. Representing Pakistan and making a mark like that is something special," he added.

The 19-year-old broke several records with the century, becoming the fastest to reach the three-figure mark in Men’s Youth ODIs while also registering the highest individual score by a Pakistan player at the U19 level.

With the U19 Asia Cup crown under their belt, which was followed by victory in the tri-series in Zimbabwe, Pakistan have underlined their credentials as a force to be reckoned with at the U-19 World Cup. For Minhas, the secret to their success lies in the team chemistry.

“Our bonding is very strong. That unity helped us win titles,” he said.
