Another First for Oceania: VAR Course at OFC Academy

Oceania has taken another major step toward modernising football officiating with the region’s first ever Video Assistant Referee (VAR) course, held at the OFC Academy in Auckland from May 25–31 2025. Led by OFC VAR Manager Jamie Cross and VAR Project Manager Mihaly Fabian the training marks the latest milestone in the journey to implement VAR across OFC competitions.

This course follows the pivotal FIFA Individual VAR Kick-off meeting in December 2024, laying out the roadmap for bringing world class refereeing technology to Oceania.
