Napoli penalty appeals denied

Napoli 0-0 Eintracht Frankfurt

Possible late drama in the other early game as Napoli want a penalty.

Replays showed that Arthur Theate's elbow did redirect the ball as David Neres threatened to burst into the box but the Eintracht Frankfurt full-back really didn't have a clue about it as he fell to the floor.

The referee has waved it away, so we continue goalless into the remaining minutes of stoppage time.

Trent can 'impact' game from the bench - Slot

Liverpool v Real Madrid (20:00 GMT)

Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot, speaking to Amazon Prime: "A great fixture. We are looking forward to a game like this.

"These clubs have met each other multiple times throughout their history. It is a special evening."

On Florian Wirtz starting: "I have more than 11 players to choose from. Tonight, as many times before, I have decided to play him.

"He is the left winger tonight."

On Trent Alexander-Arnold: "I don't even know if there is a reception [for Trent]. That is not the first thing that comes to mind when I think about this game.

"It is first the ones that play for me and the ones that play for Madrid that I am thinking about. Of course, when Trent comes on he can impact a game of football.

"Incredible player and a great human-being as well."

McTominay misses golden chance

Napoli 0-0 Eintracht Frankfurt

Ah that should have been the lead (and perhaps the points) for Napoli.

It came from a brilliant charge down the right wing from Frank Anguissa, who then cut it back to the feet of Scott McTominay on the edge of the box but last season's Serie A player of the year ballooned it over the crossbar.

Heads in hands all around Stadio Diego Armando Maradona as we tick into the final five minutes.
