Cricket World's Player of the Week - Ben Stokes, England

2
Ben Stokes once again proved why he is England’s talismanic leader, delivering a match-defining all-round performance in the fourth Test against India at Old Trafford.

With the ball, Stokes was instrumental in restricting India to 358 in their first innings, claiming a superb five-wicket haul. His ability to break partnerships and lead from the front gave England the momentum after India threatened to post a much larger total, buoyed by a gritty half-century from an injured Rishabh Pant.

Stokes carried his form into the batting department, producing a commanding century to anchor England’s response. Resuming on day four at 544-7, Stokes reached his 14th Test hundred, finishing with a brilliant 141 from 198 balls, including 11 boundaries and three sixes.

He was ably supported down the order by Liam Dawson and Brydon Carse, with the latter combining with Stokes for a 95-run last-wicket stand that lifted England to a formidable 669 — a lead of 311 runs.

It was a vintage display of leadership, resilience, and skill from Stokes, who continues to be the heartbeat of this England side. His performance has put England in a commanding position as they look to press for victory in the final innings.
