The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is currently not keen on accepting the “Partnership or Fusion formula,” proposed by the Pakistan Current Board to resolve the Champions Trophy 2025 standoff, it was reported on Tuesday (3 December). The Champions Trophy 2025 has been in limbo ever since BCCI decided against sending the Indian cricket team to Pakistan for the tournament and PCB took a stand not to accept the Hybrid Model.

The called by the International Cricket Council (ICC) last week was expected to bring an end to the impasse but the situation took a new turn after PCB introduced a new model as a solution. Pakistan is ready for a Hybrid Model with a few conditions. As per the Fusion formula, all India vs Pakistan matches in ICC tournaments till the 2026 T20 World Cup will take place in Dubai in UAE regardless of who is the host.

The new formula was proposed by the PCB after the ICC meeting on Friday (29 December) which only lasted for a few minutes.

Meanwhile, Pakistan newspaper The Tribune has reported that the BCCI is not keen on accepting the Fusion formula despite showing interest at the start.

“We have presented a fair solution. If India does not accept it, they cannot expect us to send our team there in the future. If an ICC event is held in India, their team would also need to play finals or key matches in Dubai, ensuring parity,” a PCB source told the newspaper.

The report added that we can see a decision being made soon as the broadcasters are scheduled to meet ICC officials on Thursday where the global body will have to present the schedule. The ICC has already failed to meet the contractual obligation that needed them to announce the schedule with at least 90 days to go before the tournament.

As per the draft schedule, the Champions Trophy 2025 is expected to start on 19 February and will be played till 9 Match across three venues – Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Lahore – in Pakistan. This will be the first ICC tournament to take place in Pakistan since the 1996 World Cup.

Meanwhile, it is important to add that there is no news from the BCCI side on the Fusion formula and whether they are against the proposal. Nonetheless, the scenario should become clear soon.
