“It’s obviously incredibly humbling to be inducted in into the AFL Hall of Fame. So many of my childhood heroes are in the room and to be recognised this way with you know, among the giants of our game is, is something that I never would imagine, ever have imagined as a young boy kicking a footy around in Hobart,” Riewoldt said.“So thank you to the AFL Commission and to all of those people on the selection panel on I’m truly humbled the AFL community has been like a second family for over half of my life.“And you know, the game’s given me absolutely everything that the highest of highs obviously challenges within that and plenty of memories. So you know, to the AFL, thank you for nurturing a sport that unites us, challenges us, that inspires us.“I will forever be proud, and you know, particularly having spent time overseas over the last few years, particularly proud to have been a part of this great game and thrived on the accolades throughout my career.“We all rally against the criticisms, but especially from you know, me personally and our family, the support that the AFL community showed us in times of you know, great family challenge and despair as as well as something that will stick with us forever.“So thank you from my family to everyone in the AFL community.”
