Jasprit Bumrah picked up his second five-fer in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. In Australia’s first innings of the third Test, he dismissed Usman Khawaja, Nathan Lyon, Steve Smith, Mitchell Marsh, and Travis Head.

However, his clinical bowling display was overshadowed by a controversial statement from former England cricketer and commentator Isa Guha on Sunday. She targeted the speedster with a racially sensitive statement.

The incident happened on Day 2 of the Gabba match in Brisbane. Guha’s remark came after the right-arm seamer dismissed the two openers of the host nation.

Speaking on Fox Cricket about the sensational start by Bumrah, Guha said: “He’s the MVP and the most valuable Primate. He is going to do all the taking for his team and there was so much focus on his fitness before the start of the third Test,” she said.

Brett Lee, who was with Guha in the box, did not respond to the comment made by the former cricketer, but her remark went viral on social media.

In 2008, former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh was accused of calling Andrew Symonds a monkey during one of the Test matches in Australia.
