‘Mohamed Salah and Van Dijk to stay at Liverpool for another year’

Liverpool are at risk of losing star players Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold following their contract stand-off at Anfield.

The trio are all out of contract on 30 June and can leave the club on a free transfer once their deals expire.

Alexander-Arnold has reportedly agreed personal terms with Real Madrid after being heavily linked with the La Liga giants for several months.

Salah and Van Dijk remain key players in Arne Slot’s plans but are understood to be demanding longer contracts than they have previously been offered.

Football Insider revealed on 31 March Salah is in very advanced talks with Liverpool over a new deal.

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider he believes Salah and Van Dijk will remain at Anfield for at least another year.

Liverpool disappointed as Trent Alexander-Arnold closes on Real Madrid move

Borson insisted Liverpool will be disappointed to lose Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer as he closes in on a move to Real Madrid.

He told Football Insider: “The cost of replacing Trent like for like can’t really be done because I would say that he’s a fairly unique player, so they can’t replace him easily.

“They have just got to hope that probably Bradley or somebody else, some other youth player maybe can fill the gap and make the saving on the wages.

“I would think he’s a player that’s probably on between £125,000-150,000 a week maybe, so there’s a chunky wage saving.

“But it’s very disappointing to lose a player of that age on a free transfer.

“I would think that Van Dijk and Salah are probably going to stay for at least another year.

“But certainly, if they were to lose another one of those players, that would be a story.”
