Drake Women Conclude Fall Schedule with Positive Strides at Home Invite

Bulldogs win 18 total matches over three days in DSM

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women's tennis team hosted its annual Drake Invite over the weekend to close its 2025 fall slate. The Bulldogs competed in all facets with 18 total wins among singles and doubles action.

The Bulldogs swept their series of singles matches on the first day. Jordane Dookie, Jana Ruzic, Elizabete Klavinska and Maja Dodik all earned wins in straight sets. Earlier in the day, Klavinska and Takeda teamed up for a dramatic doubles win. Dookie paired with Ruzic and Dodik for two separate tandem triumphs.

Day two saw more singles success as Takeda took down Eastern Michigan's Sabrina Tolstova (4-6, 6-4, 10-6). Ruzic and Klavinska each picked up a pair of victories in individual action, only one of which needed more than two sets. Jordane Dookie also earned another win over Tolstova's EMU teammate, Regina Mendez, by a 6-0, 7-6 tally.

Finally, on Sunday, Dodik, Takeda, and Ruzic came back for three more singles wins. Dodik and Ruzic connected for a win over Alyssa Giupponi and Alva Norberg of North Dakota while Dookie and Takeda toppled Omaha's team of Summer Shannon and Khayli Buckels.

"Super proud of where we are at as we wrap up the fall season," Drake head coach Calvin Song said. "Each event that we competed in we progressively got better. We took each opportunity to compete at our fullest and couldn't be more proud. This team is hungry to compete in the Spring, and I can't wait to see what we can do."

The Bulldogs will be back on the court for official championship season tennis action in January. Drake's 2026 Spring slate has yet to be announced.
