Antony guides Real Betis to Europa League qualification, La Liga giants prepare to enter bidding war for Man Utd loanee

Antony has propelled Real Betis from mid-table to Europa League qualification after leaving Manchester United on loan in January.

After flopping at Manchester United following an £85 million transfer from Ajax, Antony had to deal with a lot of criticism after failing to perform in the Premier League.

That was before he left the club on loan midway through the season, only to resurrect his career under Manuel Pellegrini at Real Betis by scoring five goals and registering two assists in 17 La Liga appearances.

Antony has loved his time at Real Betis and could leave Old Trafford on a permanent deal in the summer, especially after learning he is not part of Ruben Amorim’s plans for the future.

The Brazil international also has a chance to end the season with a trophy when they take on Chelsea in the Europa Conference League final.

Real Betis go into the Europa Conference League final after drawing 1-1 at home to Valencia.

Having already secured qualification for the Europa League, Real Betis go into their final against Chelsea under less pressure, but Antony will be eager to add a trophy to his list of honours after becoming a star for Los Verdiblancos.

Antony scored his ninth goal for Betis to open the scoring against Valencia with a beautiful curled effort. That goal was cancelled out late on when Rafa Mir’s first-time effort caught out Adrian at his near post to seal a point for the visitors.

The Brazilian’s form has helped lift Betis from mid-table to a sixth-place finish in La Liga, which is good news for United because it will make it easier to sell him in the summer.

Already considered a star at Betis, Antony will reach ‘legend’ status if he can inspire them to success in the Europa Conference League. The Spanish club are looking to win their third trophy this century, and sixth in all.

Manchester United prepare for Antony bidding war

Ineos will be heavily reliant on player sales to fund United’s incoming transfers after missing out on Champions League football next season.

United have several financial restrictions after too many years of Glazer ownership, which sadly still exists to this day, despite Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s investment to become a minority owner.

Antony is one player at United likely to attract lots of attention this summer.

United have reason to get excited as The Independent reports Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Antony from United after watching him turn things around at Betis.

This shows that the 25-year-old has repaired his reputation after leaving United, especially in Spain, with one of the league’s biggest clubs now showing interest in securing his signature.
