Myles Lewis-Skelly reacts after Ayden Heaven leaves Arsenal and joins Manchester United

Ayden Heaven’s move from Arsenal to Manchester United is official.

The versatile 18-year-old’s future had been up in the air for several months as his contract at the Emirates was due to expire in the summer of 2025.

TBR Football exclusively revealed in December that Arsenal were in danger of losing Heaven, with Manchester United among several clubs interested in his services.

Now, his move to Old Trafford has been confirmed.

Ayden Heaven is a hugely talented young player.

The teenager can play in midfield, but in his final years at Arsenal, he was deployed as a centre-half, where he produced several excellent performances for the youth sides.

Mikel Arteta even branded Heaven’s pre-season performance against Manchester United as ‘remarkable’ after a game in the United States (Arsenal.com).

That display perhaps caught United’s eye, and they beat several clubs in the race to secure Heaven’s services on a long-term deal.

After his signing was made official, Heaven took to Instagram and wrote: “I’m so proud to have signed for Manchester United – one of the world’s biggest clubs with a proud history of nurturing and developing young talent.

“I can’t wait to begin my journey at the Carrington Training Centre, working with and getting to know Head Coach, Ruben, my new teammates, and everyone at the club.”

A number of his old teammates at Arsenal wished him well, including Myles Lewis-Skelly, who wrote: “Yessir!”

Heaven would’ve struggled to get into Arsenal’s first-team

It is a shame for Arsenal to see Heaven leave the club.

Arteta’s side wanted to keep hold of the youngster, so much so that Arsenal even made a last-ditch offer to retain Heaven’s services.

However, he chose Manchester United, where he has been given a first-team squad number – 26 – and is expected to train under Ruben Amorim.

The teenager was a regular in training at Arsenal too, but his pathway to the first team there was very difficult because the Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba partnership is not going to be separated any time soon.

At United, on the other hand, Heaven could easily get into the first-team squad and potentially even become a regular starter alongside Lisandro Martinez and Leny Yoro in the next 12 to 18 months.
