Rebecca and Chris Judd sell holiday home for less than hoped

High-profile couple Rebecca and Chris Judd have sold their Mornington Peninsula weekender for $2.78 million, less than the asking price of between $2.84 million and $3 million.

The model and former TV presenter and her champion AFL footballer husband listed their renovated Arthurs Seat home in Victoria in March.

They fell in love with the 1970s property – which Judd told Domain had a “bush Australiana vibe” – in the Melbourne winter of 2016.

“We felt like we were hours away from the city, but it was literally 59 minutes door-to-door,” she said at the time of listing.

The Judds paid $1,212,500 for the three-bedroom home.

Back then, the property was a fixer-upper and with their young family expanding, the couple earmarked the place as somewhere for the children to run around.

They set about transforming the brick house into a sprawling six-bedroom, four-bathroom “ranch” with a tennis court and swimming pool.

Yet, after the couple welcomed twins, and their family became four, overseeing such a project felt daunting.

They instead listed the house on Airbnb.

They visited the property on weekends when they could.

Last year, Judd – a seasoned renovator and self-taught interior designer – oversaw a rapid renovation.

As she told Domain, with the help of her builder, Dale Cheeseman of The Melbourne Builder, the Arthurs Seat property was gutted and rebuilt in less than four months.

“I find that when I’m involved, things get done really quickly,” Judd said.

“I’m cracking the whip the whole time, but I would say I’m a good communicator and I work with a team who are good communicators. We kind of put out fires before they happen.”

The renovation gave the mid-century brick home a new lease of life with Patagonia stone, smokey grey oak floors, an open-plan living and dining space.

It also was given a wood fire heater and an integrated fridge/freezer in the kitchen.

The couple listed the home with a price guide of between $2.84 million and $3 million.

In May, the house was sold. The exact price wasn’t made public at the time of sale.

Yet, a property search reveals the Judds didn’t secure their asking price. In fact, they were under.

The home sold on May 15 for $2.78 million – $220,000 under the top end of the price guide, and $60,000 below the bottom of the guide.
