David Ornstein says ‘phenomenal’ player would rather join Man Utd than Arsenal

Manchester United and Arsenal have had plenty of transfer battles over the years.

Indeed, Arsenal and Manchester United are two of the biggest teams in England, and they often both fish in similar transfer ponds.

Arsenal wanted Lisandro Martinez before his move to Manchester United, while Manchester United wanted Declan Rice before he joined Arsenal.

Now, Arsenal and United are both targeting the same player heading into the summer.

Matheus Cunha has been linked to Arsenal, while Manchester United are also keen on Cunha.

Speaking on the Sky Sports Back Pages Podcast, David Ornstein has shared an update on Cunha, and he says that the indications are that the Brazilian does favour a move to Manchester United ahead of other suitors.

Matheus Cunha favours Manchester United move

Ornstein shared what he knows about Cunha.

The journalist says United have done plenty of work on the Wolves star, and the feeling is that Cunha is leaning towards joining Manchester United.

“But Manchester United have clearly done a lot of work on him. The clause makes it clean. They know exactly what they’ve got to do.

“I suppose it becomes active when the transfer window opens. So in the meantime, I’m sure they’ll look to try and agree personal terms and make sure he wants to come. The indications are that he does and that he favours a move to Manchester United.

“But that doesn’t mean it’s done. He has Premier League experience. He plays the sort of football that Manchester United have been missing this season.”

Matheus Cunha stats vs Manchester United this season

Manchester United want to make Cunha their first statement signing of the summer, and it’s not hard to understand why.

Indeed, the Brazilian tore United to shreds earlier this season, and it’s easy to see why he may have more than a few admirers at Old Trafford.

Cunha was brilliant against United at Molineux, and he was at it again last week at Old Trafford.

Cunha wasn’t quite as decisive last week, but he did give the United defence a tough afternoon, completing a number of dribbles and winning a number of fouls.

There’s a reason Cunha has been described as ‘phenomenal’ this season.

Make no mistake about it, United need to have a transformative summer transfer window, and signing Cunha would be a great first step as we head into this crucial period for the Red Devils.
