Despite her symptoms improving after the initial surgery, some 'heartbreaking blows' in recent years meant she had to go under the knife once more at Cromwell Hospital in London.

Woolhouse shared a picture of her giving a thumbs-up in a hospital gown as well as a snap of her patched-up stomach on Instagram.

"The comeback is always greater than the setback," Woolhouse wrote in the caption.

"It's been quite the ride the past seven days. Last week I had my second laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis in seven years, it was done by the surgeon controlling a robot which blows my mind.

"It ended up being a slightly chunkier op than I'd bargained for but all okay in the end."

Woolhouse stated getting a diagnosis for the disease, which affects one in ten women, can be a 'long, emotional and painful process' and it can be 'incredibly debilitating to live with.'

She added: "Sending love to anyone who has endometriosis or if you are on the long path to a diagnosis don't give up."

The 41-year-old declared she'll 'rest and recoup and take some steady walks in the sunshine' as she recovers.

She also added watching Married at First Sight on her iPad had been an enjoyable post-surgery comfort.

Several figures from the sporting world took to the comments section to offer their support.

Former talkSPORT presenter Laura Woods wrote: "Oh my love. Sending lots of love."

Sky Sports F1 reporter Natalie Pinkham said: "Sending love and healing hugs my darling."

Ex-England cricket captain Michael Vaughan added: "Get well soon x."

Woolhouse features prominently on Sky Sports' boxing coverage.

She presented the historic all-women's card at Royal Albert Hall on March 7, headlined by Lauren Price's win over Natasha Jonas.

Woolhouse has also presented the World Darts Championship for Sky Sports at the iconic Alexandra Palace, sharing the duties with Emma Paton.
