The Tritons secured the doubles point and got singles victories fromandHawai'i won the first doubles match with a 6-2 win on court one, but the Tritons won on courts two and three to clinch the doubles point. Both Lee and(No. 2) andand(No. 3) won by one-break margins.The Rainbow Warriors struck first in singles as well, winning in straight sets at No. 2 to even the dual match at 1-1. Lee then put the Tritons back in front with a straight-set win on court one.No. 4 singles wrapped next, with the home side victorious in three sets to once again tie the dual match. Rodriguez then gave UC San Diego a 3-2 lead with a straight-set victory of his own at No. 3 singles.The dual match was later secured by Qian at No. 6 singles. After winning set one in a tiebreaker, the senior found a late break in set two to claim the straight-set victory.Adamson's No. 5 singles match was the lone contest to go unfinished. The freshman was locked in a tight three-set contest at the point of interruption.The Tritons have two more Big West matches on deck next week. They visit No. 43 UC Irvine on April 9 before hosting No. 42 UC Santa Barbara on April 11 for Senior Day.After two decades as one of the most successful programs in NCAA Division II, the UC San Diego intercollegiate athletics program began a new era in 2020 as a member of The Big West in NCAA Division I.
