On Day 2 of the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25, Australian debutant Sam Konstas mimicked Virat Kohli’s infamous shoulder barge during a crowd interaction at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).The incident took place on Day 1 when Kohli, during the morning session, shoulder-pushed Konstas during a change of overs. The young Australian, who was confidently hammering Indian bowlers to all parts of the ground, didn’t back down, and a heated verbal exchange ensued before the umpires intervened. Kohli’s actions drew criticism from former cricketers and the Australian media, labelling him as overly aggressive. Meanwhile, Konstas had a memorable debut performance, scoring a 60 off 65 balls.The International Cricket Council (ICC) penalized Virat Kohli with a 20% fine on his match fees and one demerit point for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct.
