Glenn Phillips Ruled Out Of IPL 2025, Dasun Shanaka Named As Replacement By Gujarat Titans

New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips has been ruled out of the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 due to a groin injury. Gujarat Titans (GT) have announced a replacement for him.

Phillips sustained the injury during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) while attempting to stop a run for his team. Unfortunately, he couldn't prevent the run and ended up injuring himself in the process. A few minutes later, he was taken off the field with the assistance of the medical team.

This season has been commendable for Gujarat Titans (GT), registering four wins out of six games. Their only losses came against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Now, GT are set to face Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 19.

GT Announce Phillips Replacement

Dasun Shanaka has been announced as the replacement for Glenn Phillips for the remainder of IPL 2025. The Sri Lankan all-rounder brings a wealth of international experience to the Gujarat Titans (GT) squad. He was previously part of the GT setup and will now rejoin the franchise for INR 75 lakhs.

In T20Is, Shanaka has accumulated 1,456 runs in 102 matches at an average of 19.67, including five half-centuries, and has picked up 33 wickets. His ODI record includes 1,299 runs in 71 games, with two centuries and four fifties, along with 27 wickets. Shanaka has also played six Test matches, scoring 140 runs in 12 innings and taking 13 wickets, showcasing his versatility across formats.
