Tennis fans are unhappy with the Australian Open after 'joke' decision made for Novak Djokovic's semi-final with Alexander Zverev

Tennis fans expressed their displeasure at the time in which Novak Djokovic will play Alexander Zverev at the Australian Open.

On Friday, the tournament’s remaining four men will battle it out for a coveted spot in Sunday’s championship match.

Two of the men involved, Zverev and Ben Shelton, are aiming to win the first Grand Slam title of their careers.

While their opponents, Djokovic and Jannik Sinner, are looking to add to their respective Australian Open title haul.

Fans were keen to see the order of play for the Australian Open men’s semi-finals.

It has since been revealed that Novak Djokovic’s semi-final against Alexander Zverev will take place before Sinner takes on Shelton.

Some avid tennis lovers are not happy with this, as this means Djokovic will play Zverev at 3.30 AM (GMT). In the United States, the match will commence at 10.30 PM on the east coast, and 7.30 PM on the west coast.

Fans took to X to voice their displeasure with the start time as one said: “Just woken up to find out Djokovic vs Zverev is 3.30am UK time. Why they didn’t make this the night match makes no sense to me.”

“This must be some joke by the AO, the match between Djokovic vs Zverev at 2:30 pm and the other one at 7:30pm,” another fan remarked.

“I was hoping that the first men’s semi was going to be a little bit later but it is what it is. 3.30 am here in the UK, while this frustrated user posted: “Day session for the best match is a f*****g disgrace.”

“Djokovic-Zverev are first up tomorrow – as expected, since they had that extra day of rest – but I forgot that that means 3:30AM in the UK!!!.” said this fan along with crying emojis.

What does Alexander Zverev think of Novak Djokovic ahead of their Australian Open semi-final?

Zverev will face one of the toughest challenges in tennis when he takes on Djokovic at the Australian Open.

The German is trying to reach his first championship match in Melbourne and his second career Grand Slam final.

In order to achieve that, Zverev will have to record his fifth victory over the player he gave the highest form of praise. “Novak is the greatest of all time right now,” Zverev said after beating Tommy Paul to reach the semi-finals.

Zverev also said back in 2021: “There’s a reason why he’s spent the most weeks at world No. 1. There’s a lot of reasons for that.

“I think mentally he’s the best player to ever play the game. Mentally in the most important moments I would rather play against anybody else but him.”
