Some of Australia’s cricketers fear Justin Langer is harming the game he loves by continuing to dredge up his messy departure as coach 10 months ago.Instead of celebrating the return of the Perth Test for the first time in three years because of COVID, local media has been swamped by reaction to Langer’s claims on a podcast that “cowards” leaked damaging accusations against him during his increasingly difficult tenure as national coach.“Every time he brings this stuff up or speaks about it, he’s damaging the game in Australia,” one player told the Herald and The Age, speaking on condition of anonymity.When most of the Australian players arrived in Perth on Friday afternoon, captain Pat Cummins was met at the airport by local media. They were not there to ask him about the excitement of Test cricket’s return to Western Australia but what he felt about the players apparently being labelled “cowards”.
