Cole Palmer was Chelsea’s star performer in their 3-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

The attacking midfielder scored a hat-trick to keep Chelsea just a point behind fourth-placed Manchester United in the race for Champions League football.

By doing so, Palmer broke a couple of records at Molineux and is receiving a lot of praise, which is hardly a surprise.

Kris Boyd highlights Marc Cucurella’s run in Chelsea’s win against Wolves

Marc Cucurella helped Palmer earn his hat-trick, playing the ball into his teammate for him to smash it into the roof of the net. It was a bit of play that really impressed Rangers legend Kris Boyd.

The run that the defender made just before teeing up Palmer was described as “beautiful” by Boyd, who knows all about making good runs into the box.

Commentating on the game for Sky Sports, Boyd said: “What a move it is! Palmer smashes it into the roof of the net! Beautiful run from Cucurella.”

Cucurella was also heavily involved in Chelsea’s previous Premier League fixture, a 3-2 win against London rivals West Ham United.

At the end of the game, there was a brawl that Cucurella was at the centre of, which eventually led to Jean-Clair Todibo being sent off.

Cucurella was one of the best left-backs in the Premier League last season; however, his form started to dip towards the end of Enzo Maresca’s tenure this term.

Against West Ham, though, Cucurella looked back to his best before putting in another strong performance on Saturday.

Ultimately, the 27-year-old has had a mini revival under Liam Rosenior and will now be expected to finish the season as Chelsea’s first-choice left-back.
