Andy Robertson: We're massively disappointed

The Reds' journey in the Champions League this season concluded at the last-16 stage after a 4-1 defeat on penalties in the Anfield second leg.

PSG's Ousmane Dembele made it 1-1 in the tie with his early goal and the quarter-final place had to be settled via a shootout at the end of 120 minutes of high-quality action.

Read on for Robertson's verdict from his post-match interview with Amazon Prime…

On elimination...

That's the competition. Obviously we got the win last week without playing our best. I think we played so much better today. That's football, you end up being on the wrong end of the result. But you can't question the effort, the endeavour, everything that we put into the game. It was just two really good teams going at it and when it goes to penalties, it's always a lottery and unfortunately for us we're on the wrong side of it. I can't be prouder of the players, how much effort we put in, and it's just unfortunate that the efforts weren't rewarded.

On enjoying dominance in the second half but not being able to find a goal...

I think last week a lot was said about them not taking their chances. I think we never took our chances. [In the] second half we kept pushing and pushing and pushing, and unfortunately we couldn't quite get back on level terms on the night, which would have got us through. We've got a lot to look back on but I think there'll be a lot of positives from this game. Obviously it's a massive disappointment not going through.
