Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler brutally refused to sign a young spectator's Manchester United shirt while competing in a golf tournament in Bangkok.

Fowler, representing Team England in the Ringwood Icons of Football match-play event, skipped the United shirt while scribbling his signature on several items.

The now 49-year-old spent two memorable spells at Anfield, first between 1993 and 2001 and latterly between 2006 and 2007. There, he won the FA Cup, two League Cups and the UEFA Cup and Super Cup before leaving for good.

In total, Fowler scored 183 goals in his 369 appearances across all competitions.

Nicknamed 'God' by Liverpool supporters, the all-time great enjoyed putting United to the sword, having scored six times against his club's fierce rivals in as many years.

The grudge between both clubs still burns red hot and deep despite United tumbling away from the pack challenging for the Premier League title over the past decade, and the Toxteth-born Fowler showed no sign of relenting on Sunday.

He took the time to sign autographs for a row of punters and continued to move down the row after sharing a warm moment with one individual.

But after spotting one young spectator dangling a red United shirt over the railings, Fowler walked straight past them without a moment's hesitation.

Fowler briefly glanced back a few seconds later but did not return.

Earlier in the tournament, he almost bagged the biggest-ever jackpot in golf after coming agonisingly close to a hole-in-one that would have banked him £8million.

He hit an outrageous tee shot on the signature 170-yard 12th hole and was roared on by team-mate Paul Ince and Argentine duo Carlos Tevez and Gabriel Batistuta.

The staggering prize was set to be shared among players, spectators and charities but it was not to be, the ball narrowly missing the cup.

'I'm not going to lie, I was bottling it when I hit the shot,' said Fowler. 'I think Incy has already spent the money! He was more excited than me. I'm happy, very happy.'

Each of the 24 competitors had the chance to clinch the reward with a hole-in-one.

Team England emerged victorious at the end of the competition, winning 72-33.
