Manchester United have reportedly joined the race for Barcelona wonderkid Dro Fernandez.

The 17-year-old is viewed as one of the outstanding young talents in Barca's academy, and he has been on the bench for each of the first team's three La Liga matches this season.

Chelsea and Manchester City have recently been credited with an interest, while Liverpool are also thought to be keen.

According to Fichajes, Man United are also admirers of Fernandez, with the 20-time English champions currently looking to determine whether a deal for the youngster is possible.

A move to the Premier League does allegedly appeal to the teenager, with Barcelona seemingly facing a huge battle to keep hold of a player who is viewed as a future star.

Man United 'join the race' for Barcelona's Dro

Fernandez's existing deal with Barcelona is due to run until June 2027, but he turns 18 in January, so the next few months will be crucial when it comes to his future.

The attacking midfielder has scored twice in seven appearances for Barcelona's Under-19s in the UEFA Youth League, while he made his debut for Barcelona's second team against UE Porreres on September 7.

Fernandez was on the scoresheet for the first team against Vissel Kobe during pre-season, and the fact that he in and around the first team at this stage of his career shows how highly he is rated.

According to journalist Gerard Romero, Fernandez's training performances at the start of pre-season left his Barcelona teammates "speechless".

First-team staff at the club were also allegedly taken aback by the level of his displays considering that he was in that environment for the first time.

Is Barcelona wonderkid Dro heading for the Premier League?

It would be some statement of intent from Man United minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe if he was able to engineer a move for Dro, who is one of the best young talents in world football.

Ratcliffe has taken the club in a new direction since his arrival, with the Red Devils now targeting emerging youngsters rather than established internationals.

However, Man United could potentially have competition from Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea, so Ratcliffe would have to ensure that the project at the club is made clear in order for the move to become possible.
