Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne has dropped a hint about his next move amid tentative links of a potential transfer to Liverpool.

De Bruyne announced earlier this month that he would be leaving Man City when his contract at the Etihad Stadium expires in the summer.

In recent weeks, there have been speculative rumours claiming that Liverpool and Anfield could be the midfielder's next destination.

The 33-year-old is able to negotiate with clubs outside England about his next move when his contract runs out at the end of the season.

Various reports have suggested that Major League Soccer in the United States could be where De Bruyne will be playing his football next season, despite the tentative links claiming a move to Liverpool may be a possibility.

With a little over two months until his contract expires, De Bruyne has revealed the emotions he felt after being informed by Man City that they would not be extending his contract.

The Belgium international went on to provide a hint as to what he wants from his next club.

"There was a little bit (of shock)," said De Bruyne in an interview with the Daily Mail.

"I didn't have any offer from them through the whole year and the club made a decision. Obviously, I was a bit surprised but I have to accept it.

"Honestly, I still think I can perform at this level like I'm showing but I understand that clubs have to make decisions."

De Bruyne added: "I'm open for anything (next) because I have to look at the whole picture. I'm looking at sporting reasons, family and everything together and what makes the most sense for me and my family.

"I still feel like I can play at a good level, but after I'll have to make a decision once I really know a little bit more."
