Following last night’s unforgettable UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 victory for England, we’ve rounded up all the post-match quotes from our Lionesses.Chloe Kelly scored the winning penalty against Spain, while Michelle Agyemang won Young Player of the Tournament for her recent contributions in Switzerland.Captain Leah Williamson lifted her second European trophy of the summer, alongside Alessia Russo, Beth Mead and Lotte Wubben-Moy.Chloe Kelly: “Incredible game of football, both sides really going head-to-head and two incredible teams fighting for everything, leaving nothing on the pitch. I came onto the pitch and wanted to make something happen. I know Alessia’s strengths and tried to put the ball on her head.“Then taking the penalty, I actually missed three penalties in training yesterday! But the belief in this squad, the whole 23 players and the staff members you don’t see behind the scenes, that got us through this tournament. I’m really proud to be English right now and part of an amazing group of girls.“There were a lot of tears at full-time, especially when I saw my family, because those are the people that got me through those dark moments. I’m so grateful to be out the back end of that, and if that’s a story to tell someone experiencing the same, tough times don’t last and just around the corner was a Champions League final. Won that, and now a Euros final. Won that! Thank you to everyone who wrote me off, I’m grateful.“Sarina’s an incredible woman. What she’s done for this country, we should all be so grateful for. What she’s done for me individually, she gave me hope when I probably didn’t have any. She gave me an opportunity to represent my country again. I knew I had to get game time and representing England is never a given, but what she’s done for the women’s game, not just in England, in the Netherlands as well, she’s taken the whole women’s game to another level.“The work doesn’t go unnoticed from the staff she has behind her. They’re incredible people and I’m so grateful to work with them.“[My penalty routine] started when I was at Everton quite a few years ago now. It’s something that just works for me. I can’t explain it too much. I actually spoke with one of the coaches the other day about it, it’s just my routine that works for me and I take my time. I take my breath and I’m confident. Taking a penalty normally would probably feel a bit weird to me. Sometimes you miss, sometimes you score, but I was adamant I wasn’t missing two on the bounce.”Michelle Agyemang: “Straight after the game I cried my eyes out again! It just feels surreal. I’m so grateful to God that we’re here, because at the beginning of the tournament it seemed like we wanted get here, but here we are.“It means the world to me. This is only by the grace of God. [I was a ball girl] four years ago, so it’s such a short amount of time, but to be here, I’m thankful for my teammates, to the coaches, staff and to God, the messiah of course.“I love you dad and thanks for all the support and that goes for the rest of my family. They’ve been with me the whole way and to share this moment with them, all here in the stands right now is beautiful.“I want to keep working hard, winning tournaments and doing what I can to help my team, whether club or country. To be here, let’s think about the now. We’re European champions and that’s what matters right now! I won’t say too much but I’m going to have a good time!”Leah Williamson: “It means everything. For the girls that have just won it twice, for the girls that have never won it before, I’m so happy for everybody involved. What an honour to be a part of this team.“I really do believe it but at the same time I’m struggling. Everything we say and try to live by, we do. We show up and every single person shows up every single time. I thought we were unbelievable, sticking to the game plan and defending.“This team literally never gives up. There’s so many players that have done so much that you would never see to be on that pitch, to run and give everything before you even get to the football. To be part of today, I’m so happy for everybody. I feel like I should be saying something really monumental and I just don’t have the words. This is unbelievable.“I’m so proud and feel so lucky to be a part of this team. I’m so glad, everybody turned up and had a game. That’s what happens when you do that.“We speak about it and people expect it and that’s fine, but to get to a final is so hard. To win a game like this, nobody has ever done it as part of an England squad, so it shows how hard the task way.“It’s staying home!”Alessia Russo: “I don’t think it’s sunk in. The emotions of a game, of a final, the highs and lows you experience throughout, the resilience to come back and win on penalties, I don’t think it’s sunk in. It’s just incredible and we’ll celebrate as a team.“We just wanted to keep you lot entertained! That’s tournament football and you have to win in so many different ways and we’ve done that, whether it be 90 minutes, extra-time, penalties, we’ve got the belief that we can go all the way and have the players to do that. Hopefully people enjoyed it.“Scoring today was crazy. It was a great ball in from Chloe and I knew that I had that space in the first half. We spoke about it at half-time, so it was amazing to get back in the game. We defended like crazy and had trust in everyone coming on the pitch, trust in the penalty takers and trust in Hannah in goal as well.“It’s been nice, we had a little singalong in the changing room and we’ll get on the bus, have a good time and go back to the hotel with all our friends and family.“To be European champions once, and then to do it back to back is just crazy."Beth Mead: “To be able to win back to back Euros, sharing that moment tonight with Ella, we both had my mum and her dad at the last Euros, they’re not here today, you go straight to the stands and have an emotional moment with her mum and my dad. My mum did so much to get me here so to be able to celebrate… I don’t think she was watching over me when I took that penalty actually, I’ll have to have a word!“The feeling of being able to do that and the emotion that comes out, it’s not been easy. I’ve been in Ella’s situation, having to do that, people scrutinise you and you’ve got so much going on as a human. To be able to perform in a tournament under the pressure we have as England players has been incredible.“You can see how emotional we all are. We dug very deep this tournament and got our rewards in the end by winning. I didn’t plan on slipping, it wasn’t my ideal situation, but I’m so happy the girls got it over the line.“I’m lost for words, to do it twice is pretty insane. We’ve gone behind in most games in these knockout stages and we’ve come back, shown resilience, character and smashed it and won!
