Fabrizio Romano Shares Friday Update on Man Utd Move to Sign Bryan Mbeumo

Fabrizio Romano has shared a fresh update on Man Utd's move to sign Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo in his latest GIVEMESPORT newsletter.

The Red Devils have been locked in negotiations with the Bees for over a month about a deal to sign the Cameroon international, with two bids worth £55m and £62.5m including add-ons rejected, as the west London club look to hold out for maximum value for their star player.

Man Utd were hopeful of having Mbeumo in their squad for the start of pre-season this week, but that didn't happen, and now attention has turned to getting a deal done in time for their pre-season tour of the USA.

'Deal is on' but talks ongoing

Ruben Amorim's side are set to depart for the pre-season tour of America next week, and the hope is that 25-year-old Mbeumo will be on the plane too.

But when asked if Man Utd are hopeful they can get it done in time, Romano admitted that talks are still ongoing and the timing likely depends more on Brentford.

"They're trying, negotiations are still ongoing. Timing depends also on Brentford, but the deal is on."

Brentford director of football Phil Giles recently claimed that Mbeumo would be happy to stay at the club if they are unable to agree a fee with United, but the player has already admitted that he wants to make the move to Old Trafford and isn't interested in moving elsewhere.

With all parties expecting a transfer to happen at some point in this window, it would make more sense for a deal to happen quickly to give everyone more time to settle in and complete other business.

But Brentford are adamant they will get full value, which they deem to be around £65m for Mbeumo, and thus a deal continues to drag on.
