Manchester United have been handed a major boost in potentially signing an alternative striking option to Viktor Gyokeres for Ruben Amorim this summer.

Ruben Amorim is in desperate need to add a new striker to his attacking options and Viktor Gyokeres has been linked with Manchester United in recent months.

Gyokeres played under United manager Amorim at Sporting CP and the 27-year-old Swedish forward is tipped to leave the Estadio Jose Alvalade this summer.

The Sporting CP striker has impressed during his time with the current Primeira Liga champions and Arsenal are in the race to sign Gyokeres from Sporting CP.

United’s ability to move for the Arsenal-linked Gyokeres could be hindered by the Red Devils’ financial situation, despite Amorim’s admiration for the Sporting player.

Gyokeres has a whopping £85m release clause in his current contract with Sporting and the Sweden international’s deal with the club will expire in 2028.

Ruben Amorim and Man Utd could turn their attention to Fiorentina’s Moise Kean amid Arsenal’s pursuit of Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres

Sporting CP are playing hardball over any negotiations for Viktor Gyokeres and the club are reportedly holding out for a fee of around £59.7m for the striker.

Gyokeres has hinted at his desire to leave the Portuguese outfit and Sporting president Frederico Varandas has made his feelings clear over any sale of the player.

United have been linked with Moise Kean in recent weeks and the 25-year-old Italian forward would be a cheaper transfer alternative to Gyokeres this summer.

Stretty News reports that the ‘entourage’ of Moise Kean have potentially opened the door for an Old Trafford move after they ‘offered his services’ to United.

The publication added that the Italy international is ‘open to making the switch’ and could be ready to leave Fiorentina this summer if United make an approach.

How much would Fiorentina striker Moise Kean cost Man Utd if a summer transfer approach was made?

Moise Kean’s second spell with Juventus came to an end last summer and the United-linked striker completed his move to Serie A outfit Fiorentina.

Juventus secured an initial fee of €13m for the 2024 transfer of Kean, with a further €5m included in add-ons from Fiorentina as part of the deal.

The former Juventus striker impressed for his current side last season and Kean netted an impressive 25 times in 44 matches across all competitions.

Kean is under contract with Fiorentina until 2029, but the former Everton and Paris Saint-Germain player does have a release clause in his current deal.

It is believed that the Italy and Fiorentina striker has a £44.5m release clause that will become active from 1st July and will run until 15th July.
