Darwin Nunez makes new Liverpool transfer decision

Darwin Nunez is open to a Saudi Pro League move this summer as he closes in on a Liverpool exit, sources have told Football Insider.

The 25-year-old was wanted by clubs in the Middle East in the January transfer window, but the Reds were unwilling to let him depart with their season still in the balance.

Liverpool are now ready to wrap up the Premier League title but were unsuccessful in the Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup.

Nunez has been scarcely involved in recent weeks – a clear sign he is not trusted to deliver by Arne Slot, who replaced Jurgen Klopp last year.

Nunez not trusted by Liverpool boss Slot

The Uruguay international has made just one start in the Premier League in 2025 and has not featured in the Reds’ last two games.

He has hit seven goals and notched seven assists in 42 appearances across all competitions this term.

Nunez is under contract at Anfield until June 2028 but is increasingly likely to seal a move away from Merseyside if a suitable offer arrives this summer.

The former Benfica star cost Liverpool a fee of around £85million when he joined the Reds in 2022 – the same summer Erling Haaland joined rivals Man City.

Elliott not set to follow Nunez out of Liverpool

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on Monday (21 April) that Liverpool will not look to sell Harvey Elliott this summer – despite his lack of action in the 2024-25 campaign.

The Reds view Elliott, 22, as an all-important homegrown talent with huge potential for the future.

Elliott has not started a single Premier League game since Slot succeeded Klopp at Anfield and has played just 637 minutes this season.
