Mohsin Naqvi's PCB To Take Legal Action Against Blessing Muzarabani For Picking IPL Over PSL

For the second year in a row, an international cricketer has picked IPL stint over PSL despite having a contract with the latter.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly planning to take a legal route after Zimbabwe international cricket Blessing Muzarabani gave up his Pakistan Super League (PSL) contract to represent Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL). PCB thinks that Muzarabani has breached his PSL contract by signing up for KKR.

Muzarabani has been roped in by the three-time IPL champions after they had released Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman on the directives of the BCCI in January.

On the other hand, the Zimbabwean fast bowler was signed by PSL’s Islamabad United as replacement for West Indies’ Shamar Joseph for the upcoming season that runs from 26 to May 3 and will run parallel to IPL’s 19th season that will start a couple of days later.

The 29-year-old Muzarabani had an impressive T20 World Cup 2026 where he finished with 13 wickets from six matches and played a key role in Zimbabwe’s topping Group B that also included the likes of Australia, Sri Lanka, Ireland and Oman. He took a four-fer in a stunning win over former champions Australia during the tournament.

Meanwhile, Mustafizur, who was bought by KKR for Rs 9.2 crore at the IPL 2026 auction, has been signed by PSL’s Lahore Qalandars.

Muzarabani has played 18 Tests, 57 ODIs and 89 T20Is for Zimbabwe and taken a combined 243 wickets in his international career so far.

Last year, South Africa allrounder Corbin Bosch, signed by Peshawar Zalmi as their Diamond Pick, later joined Mumbai Indians as an injury replacement. PCB responded by imposing a one-season PSL ban.

The IPL recently announced schedule for the first 20 matches with defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru to host former champions Sunrisers Hyderabad in the season-opener at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The fixtures for the remainder of the season will be finalised after polling dates are announced for West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Assam.
