Manchester United and England legend Wayne Rooney left out both Paul Scholes and Xavi when he was asked to name the best passer of the ball in football history.

Wayne Rooney shared the pitch with Paul Scholes while playing for Manchester United and England and the pair enjoyed incredible success at Old Trafford.

Scholes is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders of all time and was a key midfield influence in United’s legendary teams of the past under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Iconic former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson thought highly of the ex-Red Devils midfielder and named Scholes as one of the four world-class players he managed.

Scholes, who finally called it time on his legendary career at Old Trafford in 2013, lifted 11 Premier League titles and two Champions League trophies with United.

One of United’s famed ‘Class of ‘92’ stars, the 50-year-old former England international also lifted three FA Cups and two League Cups under Ferguson.

Scholes climbed out of the United youth academy in the 1990s and became a mainstay in the United first-team squad during his two prolific spells at Old Trafford.
