Three Manchester United players Erik ten Hag could bring to Wolves include Kobbie Mainoo

Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been linked with the vacant Wolves manager role.

Wolves sacked Victor Pereira on Sunday after a poor start to the season left them bottom of the Premier League table.

Despite a deal looking close at one point, Gary O’Neil is not expected to return to Molineux.

Middlesbrough boss Rod Edwards is a potential option for Wolves, while recent reports have suggested Ten Hag is being considered.

Dutch outlet NOS says they have spoken to the Dutchman’s management, confirming interest from the Midlands outfit.

With that in mind, we have taken a look at Manchester United players who Ten Hag could look to sign, on loan or permanently, should he accept the role.

Kobbie Mainoo

Kobbie Mainoo has been unsettled under Ruben Amorim for some time, falling heavily down the midfield pecking order.

Amid a lack of game time in 2025/26, 138 Premier League minutes so far, TBR Football have previously revealed that the Englishman has made it clear he wants to be allowed to leave Man Utd in January.

Newcastle and Bournemouth are among the English teams thought to have been keeping tabs on Mainoo, but a reunion with his ex-manager could appeal to the 20-year-old.

Ten Hag handed the player his Man Utd debut in January 2023, featuring in a Carabao Cup quarter-final tie versus Charlton Athletic.

Mainoo has had a couple of injury issues since breaking into the first team, but was a regular fixture under the ex-Ajax boss before his dismissal in October 2024.

Joshua Zirkzee

Joshua Zirkzee arrived at Old Trafford during Ten Hag’s final summer transfer window, costing £36.5m.

The striker has had a mixed spell in Manchester, scoring seven and assisting three in 54 matches across all competitions.

Now, after three new forwards, including Benjamin Sesko, were signed in the summer, TBR Football understands that Zirkzee is ready to leave Manchester United.

He may not be the most prolific striker, but his goal contributions for Bologna (23 in 58) and RSC Anderlecht (31 in 47) suggest there is a good forward in there if used in the right system.

Tyrell Malacia

Tyrell Malacia was the first signing of the Erik ten Hag era at Manchester United.

He has made 47 appearances for the Red Devils and recently spent time on loan at PSV.

However, he’s lost his place in the United team under Amorim, being named in just one matchday squad so far this term.

Malacia’s form has certainly been mixed in the Premier League, but Wolves need all the defensive help they can get after shipping 22 in 10 (the worst record in the division).
