There are no favourites in IPL because it's a very competitive tournament but at times, few matches are heavily titled towards a team at certain venues. When RCB arrived at the Chepauk to play CSK , the odds were heavily in favour of the hosts. The visitors had a 1-8 head to head record at the venue, with RCB's only win coming in the 2008 edition. Since then, RCB had lost eight consecutive game at the venue.

Secondly, Chepauk is known to help the spinners and there was a massive difference in quality of spinners in both teams. While CSK had match winners like Noor Ahmed, Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin, RCB had Krunal Pandya, Liam Livingstone and Suyash Sharma who were no way near the quality of CSK spinners.

However, ever since the game started, it was only one team dominated the proceedings - RCB. They posted a strong total of 196-7 and restricted CSK to 146-8, winning the game by 50 runs.

Ruturak Gaikwad's Bizarre Remark Goes Viral

The defeat was an embarrassment for CSK, and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad 's bizarre remark following the defeat further added to the trolling. Gaikwad said that he was happy that his team lost by just 50 runs. In a game where matches are won or lost by a solitary run, a 50 run defeat would fall in the category of epic drubbing. Gaikwad's remark invited brutal trolling for the CSK skipper.

"I still feel 170 was a par score on this wicket. It wasn't that easy to bat. Bad fielding cost us. When you're chasing 170, you have a little more time, but when you're chasing 20 runs extra you have to bat differently in the power play and it didn't happen today.

"It (wicket) got a little slower, it got a little sticky. The new ball was sticking a bit. Don't know how it happened. Rahul backed his shot, I backed mine as well, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't." Gaikwad said his team needs a lot of improvement in fielding," said Gaikwad.

"I feel the fielding has to improve a lot and we have to come back stronger in the fielding department. We dropped catches and boundaries kept coming and they (RCB) kept going and the momentum didn't stop till the last over."

"But at the end we didn't lose by a big margin, it was just 50 runs. Definitely a different scenario when you have three world-class spinners in the team. You want new batters to face them. It didn't happen this time."

"There's a long flight to Guwahati (for next match) but we just have to turn up mentally and see which are the areas we can improve," he added.

Meanwhile, the win was RCB's second in two games. The team had defeated KKR in the opening game at home.
