UEFA Women’s EURO 2025: Sweden have ‘no fear’ against defending champions England in quarter-finals

Sweden will approach their UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 quarter-final against England without fear on Thursday night, says captain Kosovare Asllani.

The last-eight football tie in Zurich, Switzerland looks too close to call with defending champions England only one place (fifth) above Sweden in the world rankings.

Sweden topped Group C after beating Denmark, Poland and Germany, with the 4-1 victory over the Germans on Saturday (12 July) a statement of intent.

England’s Lionesses meanwhile were runners-up in Group D having lost their opener to France before beating the Netherlands and Wales.

"We respect England, the team they have and everything they have achieved so far. But fear? No. We don't have the word fear in our dictionary," said Asllani, who scored against Poland.

"We look up the word courage. Of course you have to respect one of the best sides in the world but we have the perfect gameplan for this match.

"We want to achieve the football we want to represent. In our minds there is only one outcome and that is to win the game."
