The Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) 2025 season will be held from May 29 to June 15, the organisers announced on Friday.Now in its sixth season, India’s premier table tennis league will be held at the EKA Arena in Ahmedabad, which has hosted major sporting events like the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup and the 2019 Intercontinental Cup football tournament.Eight teams featuring top Indian and international stars will compete in Ultimate Table Tennis 2025. Goa Challengers are the defending champions and will be aiming for a hat-trick.Ultimate Table Tennis has been run by private promoters under the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) since 2017. It was, however, not held from 2020 to 2022.Top Indian table tennis players like Sharath Kamal, Manika Batra, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, Manav Thakkar and Sutirtha Mukherjee have featured in UTT in the past.Foreign talents like Olympic silver medallist Petrissa Solja of Germany and world championships medallist Tiago Apolónia of Portugal have also participated in the franchise-based tournament.In UTT 2025, eight teams will be divided into two groups of four and will play a total of five ties in the league stage. Of these, three will be within their own group and two against randomly drawn teams from the other group.The top four teams after all the league stage matches will progress to the knockouts, culminating in the final on June 15.Each team consists of six players with two international stars. Every tie will feature five matches, including two women’s singles, two men’s singles and one mixed doubles.In the previous edition held in Chennai, Goa Challengers successfully defended their title by defeating Dabang Delhi TTC to become the first team in UTT history to win two championships.
