Karolína Muchová produced one of the most emphatic performances of the day at the Miami Open, overpowering rising Filipina tennis star Alex Eala 6-0, 6-2 in the Round of 16 on Grandstand.

The result sent the Czech, ranked No. 14 by the WTA, into the final eight and brought an end to another notable Miami campaign for Eala, whose rise over the past year has made her one of the most closely watched young players on the tour.

Muchová, a 2023 Roland Garros finalist and two-time US Open semi-finalist, moved through the opening set without dropping a game and closed the match in straight sets, winning 52 points to 26 and converting all five break points she earned.

Eala, who arrived in Miami at a career-high No. 29 in the WTA rankings, got on the board in the second set but was unable to change the direction of the match. The 20-year-old, who is the first player from her country to reach a WTA 1000 semi-final and break into the top 100, exits in the Round of 16, while Muchová moves on to the quarter-finals.
