The BBC have lost their monopoly on Wimbledon coverage in the UK, with a rival channel set to also broadcast this year's singles finals.

The prestigious tournament has been carried by the Beeb for the last 88 years and that will continue in 2025. It is listed as a Category A event by Ofcom, meaning live coverage must be made available to free-to-air channels.

The rule also allows for paid networks to share live coverage, as long as it continues to be shown on terrestrial television.

Last year, Eurosport extended a five-year deal with the All England Club but the network went off air in the UK in February.

It was bought out by TNT Sports, who have inherited the rights package and will show the Wimbledon finals for the first time. All other matches will be shown exclusively live on the BBC.
