Federico Chiesa's time at Liverpool could soon be coming to an end.

The 27-year-old, who made just six Premier League appearances last season, has failed to make an impression at Anfield since his switch from Juventus in August 2024.

Despite having featured recently in the Reds' pre-season outings against Preston and Stoke City, an exit is still being talked up as his future reaches a pivotal juncture.

According to information recently relayed by The Mirror, Serie A side Atalanta would be happy to bring the forward back to Italy, but on only one condition.

Ex-Everton winger Ademola Lookman is attracting interest from fellow Italian side Inter Milan, with talks said to be continuing this week.

Therefore, Chiesa, who has 47 Serie A goals to his name, has been identified as a 'perfect replacement' for Lookman given his ongoing situation at Liverpool.

Arne Slot looks to be rejigging his forward line, with Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez also subject to wider interest this summer.

That's after Liverpool completed the signings of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, with the Reds also keeping tabs on Alexander Isak's situation at Newcastle.

Chiesa is available for transfer as he wants to play regular football, which he may again be limited to this season in the Premier League.

Slot cannot guarantee minutes for the Italy international and Liverpool, who will want to make a profit on the former Fiorentina man.

The Reds shelled out just £10million for Chiesa last summer, plus around £2.5 million in add-ons, though not all of those have yet been achieved.

Slot last spoke about Chiesa in May and insisted the attacker could stay at the club, should he work hard across pre-season.

“Next season, if he comes back completely fit, which he has hardly been for the first half-season, but then afterwards he became fitter and fitter," said the Dutchman.

"The next steps should have been playing time, which I couldn’t give him. But I can give him playing time in pre-season, so he can build himself up and then go even further."
