Record Liverpool Deal Could Present Opportunity For Caoimhín Kelleher

There was some groundbreaking transfer news in recent days, with it being reported that Liverpool were set to win the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen superstar Florian Wirtz this summer.

The German is widely considered as one of the best up and coming young players in world football, with all major European clubs having tracked his progress over the last number of years.

He was hotly tipped to join Bayern Munich this summer, with Manchester City thought to be next in line should he opt to move abroad. However, it has now been suggested that the player has chosen Anfield as his next destination, with a deal worth up to €150million expected to be confirmed in the near future.

While this will be a monumental signing for Liverpool, it could also open up an opportunities for some current members of their playing squad.

The deal to bring Florian Wirtz to Liverpool could be worth as much as €150million, although it has been suggested that Bayer Leverkusen could also be willing to accept a player in part exchange. What's more, it has also previously been reported that the German club will be in the market for a goalkeeper this summer.

With that in mind, would they consider a move for Caoimhín Kelleher?

The Irishman is all but certainly to leave Liverpool this summer, with the club reportedly looking for a fee of around £25million in order to sanction his sale. However, they might well be willing to accept a lower fee from Bayer Leverkusen in order to grease the wheels of the Wirtz deal.

Kelleher is sure to have plenty of suitors this summer, with a number of Premier League clubs also likely to show an interest. A move to Germany also could appeal, with Bayer Leverkusen set to play in the Champions League in 2025/26.

The German club are also set to appoint Erik ten Hag as their new manager to replace the Real Madrid bound Xabi Alonso. As someone with recent Premier League experience, he could well have an influence on any potential agreement to take a Liverpool player in part-exchange for Wirtz.
